2015 Nellie Tayloe Ross Gala
We have an exciting evening planned for the Wyoming Democratic Party’s 2015 Gala, Feb 7!
We are excited to be playing on February 7 for the Wyoming Democratic Party’s annual gala at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn. Named for Nellie Tayloe Ross, the first woman governor of Wyoming, the evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by dinner. This event is an opportunity to meet and mingle with progressive leaders across Wyoming and, this year, features a keynote address from special guest, author and strategist Christine Pelosi. There will be dancing after dinner to our favorite tunes.
For tickets go to www.wyodems.org or call The Wyoming Democratic Party headquarters, 307-514-5282.
We have a great show planned for Valentines Day!
We have a wonderful show planned for Valentines Day at the Cheyenne Country Club including some of our favorite new tunes. We’ll be showcasing some Latin classics including “Perfidia” and “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas.” Jane loves singing these sultry songs. You’ll love it, too.
Come down to the County Club for a beautiful buffet of prime rib and evening of great music.
Cleo Laine and John Dankworth
Great vocals and hot band. Don’t miss the alto and vocal duet with her late husband, Sir John Dankworth. Dame Cleo Laine, now 87, was famous for her scat singing and had an amazing voice with a nearly four-octive range at her height as a performer. John Dankworth composed jazz and played saxophone.
Pete’s Music Library
Pete’s been collecting records since he had two quarters to rub together and has over 5,000 albums–mostly classic jazz–and like a lot of music snobs, he loves vinyl. He thinks that somehow it sounds better. I think he likes the way it spins on the turntable and the ritual of gently dropping the needle down to make it play. There is also the look and feel of the album covers which he actually reads–in detail. You can learn a lot about music this way, and he certainly has.
Pete is by nature a collector of old stuff. (If he were an animal, he’d be a hermit crab, finding some fascinating, abandoned piece of junk and moving in). But he mostly loves to collect great songs for us to play.
Here’s Pete with the first album he ever bought, “Boss Beat” by the great drummer Sandy Nelson, which, of course, he still owns.
