Thank you to ALS United Rocky Mountain and the Denver Country Club for hosting the 2025 Sunset Gala

This was a perfect evening. The Jane Robinett Quintet was honored, once again, to support ALS United by playing for the annual Sunset Gala’s jazz cocktail reception on the patio of the Denver Country Club, the most elegant venue in Denver. The band sounded amazing with Adam Revell on piano, Bill McCrossen on bass, Bobby Wiens on drums, and Chuck Schneider on tenor and soprano saxophones as well as clarinet. There are no better jazz musicians in the region, and I am so happy to be able to play music with them.

This was my fifth year to play for the Sunset Gala. ALS United does so much for those who are touched by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis–also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease–a terrible disease. I learned about the importance and scope of their work when my former bandmate, Pete McDonnell, developed this illness in 2015 while we were still working together, and he had to give up the thing that he most loved–playing drums. Pete died within about two years. Playing for this event is one way that I have been able to show my gratitude for all that ALS United does to support the victims of ALS and their families.
